Even once the car stops, there's no countermeasures? Once the gangs all gather 'warriors' style and finally kick-off, why on earth is Erica out of her presumably highly armoured car?

And lastly, we're still using the stuffer shack tables from 1st ed? It was cute as a value add in 3rd Ed's 'First Run' but seriously weak now.

Also ruined by errors. The spell cards for the mage, for example, have the description for the armour spell repeated on the fire-based attack spells. So the mage player doesn't have all the rules he needs, making the cards pointless.

I'll likely pick up the physical for the dice and tokens when I get core book. I appreciate the warnings folks, was going to buy the physical starter box for a mates birthday, bought him pizza instead.

The fact German version has less errors and is free is somewhat worrying. I recommend getting it just for the correct character stats and skill ratings and the edge token sheet. I bought this boxed set at Origins, along with every other SR 6 thing Catalyst had with them there. Is there a way I can get a complimentary copy of the PDF? FOr specific exampe just go to the review tab - you will find my comments and an example on extremly bad editing for spell cards.

What should it read? If you want to see a preview of some of this without spending money on a bad product, I recommend taking a look at that. My best summary: Edgerun has arrived. Edge is baked into everything, the same as Limits were in 5E.

If you don't like the Edge system, the game will not be one you can invest in, because you can't just ignore it and play anyway. Its way easier to understand, but it doesn't feel interesting or exciting to consider playing a game that is more about mastering how to earn and burn Edge. That said, I think I could play it easily without burning out half my brain cells trying to parse the rules. See more Once again Catalyst screws the pooch.

The editing in this beginners box is crap, with fails throughout the book and on the NPC cards. The rules in the beginner box do not even track the final rules in the 6e CRB.

And that does not even get into the details of the crapfest that is 6e's Edge mechanic. Relative advantage replaces all the modifiers for range, lighting, movement, etc. The result is pile of unvarnished trash where: Strength does not factor into melee combat but into unarmed?!?

Wearing a bikini is as effective at protecting you as wearing full combat armor. A core conceit of the new edge mechanic is that "if all things are equal then ignore penalties", that is inherently busted. It shows both a fundamental lack of understanding of probability and a lack of concern for tactical reasons that you might want to apply penalties to everyone on the battlefield. And on and on throughout 6e. Why would you buy this abomination?

I just realized I could walk to the offices of Catalyst Game Labs and complain in person about this set. I live across town from where they are headquartered. I recommend trying to get them to replace your defective spell cards if you bought the physical box set, and pester them to update the PDF at the least.

I don't know if it will do any good, but maybe the volume of complaints will help motivate them to get it done? I have mailed them through there three times now and have not received even a simple acknowledgement email in return.

Each time I have asked if replacement cards are going to be offered and, at the very least, can they post errata or mail me a response with the correct spell card s text. Never, ever, again. Catalyst, why do you do this? Not even the most fanatical apologists can put out a good word for you based on this; value your customers, stop rushing your products. I'm sticking to 5E, since the quality seems to be the same, if not worse.

Was about to purchase this, but not going to if it is so poorly edited. Yes there are flaws that should not be there. Some are even blatant; but for ten dollars this isn't that bad of a set. A session with a pdf editor can fix the mistakes with the cards.

I agree that we should not have to do that though. Catalyst should have done a better job of editing this set. I'm just saying that in my opinion it is not as bad as many of the Catalyst haters will make it out to be.

It's bad enough they did this once before, a second time is just carelessness. I can't disagree with you. Also it is not the second time. They released many books for 5th edition that were filled with mistakes.

The only reason the game is still alive is because fans of the setting want it to succeed. I think the people that own the license realize that and would rather just put out the books for a cash grab rather than pay the extra money to put out a better product. I wonder if same errors are in physical version. But from the darkest shadows, defiance flickers in people known as shadowrunners.
